With the control panel called Cpanel you can manage your email accounts,
databases, mailing lists, view web site statistics, customize error
pages,install complex applications and scripts simply and easily

Access via FTP - File Transfer Protocol
For easy web site administrations, including the uploads of web
site files we highly recommend the use of a proper FTP application.
An FTP application is like a web-browser, but it is used for file
transfers only. FTP applications are available for all popular Operating
Systems and are much easier to use than any other web site publishing
methods.
A number of FTP applications is highly recommended for their ease
of use and available features. Some of these are recommended in
our 'welcome emails' which you receive once you order an account
with Digitalis.

Frontpage Extensions
MS Frontpage is a popular web development and publishing application.
By providing the Microsoft Frontpage extensions on our servers,
customers are able to manage and publish their Frontpage 'webs'
(web sites) without the use of any third party tools.
Frontpage extensions are not installed by default - however they
can be installed at any time with the click of a mouse button from
within the client control panel (Cpanel X)

PHP (http://www.php.net)
is a popular scripting language used by many popular scripts and
web applications, such as discussion boards, e-commerce software
and email scripts.
All Digitalis servers have PHP pre-installed with a number of popular
modules, such as GD and Mcrypt. Additional modules can be requested
at any time.

another very popular and very powerful scripting language. Although
PHP is taking over in terms of popularity, many scripts and web
applications are still written in perl. Perl scripts can be installed
by placing the appropriate script files in the user's cgi-bin directory.

Webmail
with webmail, clients are able to access their email accounts from
any internet-connected computer using a web-browser. Perfect solution
for the 'road warriors' and when going on holidays! We offer 3 different
webmail applications which can be used interchangably. Each webmail
application has its strengths and weaknesses. While Neomail is a
very 'light' and fast webmail application - it does not offer the
many features incl. complex address book, customizations etc, offered
by Horde and SquirrelMail.

Site Statistics
all of our servers have specialized log-parsing software which runs
daily and creates comprehensive visitor statistics which you can
access from within the client control panel. Web statistics are
useful for tracking of web sites which link to you, during paid
advertising campaigns, to find out which pages are most popular
and whether your visitors are receiving any error messages.
Web statistics with the Webalizer program are presented with coloured
charts and graphs and can be used in slide-show presentations and
in advertising/promotional materials.

Prevention - SpamAssassin
SpamAssassin is a server-side content filtering software which will
tag spam emails as 'spam'. It uses a sophisticated points system
to determine whether an email is spam or legitimate. SpamAssassin
is pre-installed on all accounts and can be enabled from the client
control panel (Cpanel X).
In addition to SpamAssassin, you are able to set your own spam filters
based on any email header, incl. subject line, sender's email address,
body content etc.
By using a combination of SpamAssassin and our filtering rules,
our customers have been able to reduce email spam up to 99%.

File Manager
part of the client control panel (Cpanel X) - the file manager can
be used to upload and download files to your web space, to change
file permissions and more. While it is a convenient way of managing
files, we recommend the use of an FTP application whenever possible.

MySQL
Databases
MySQL (http://www.mysql.com)
is a very popular and powerful Relational Database Management System
(RDBMS). Every web hosting account comes with a number of available
databases. The 'web starter' plan comes with 3 included MySQL databases,
while all other plans include up to 5 MySQL databases.
MySQL databases are used by most scripts nowadays - inlcuding e-commerce
and discussion forums script such as OsCommerce and PHPBB.
MySQL databases are managed from the client control panel.

A very popular program called PhpMyAdmin is available with all of
our web hosting plans and can be accessed on the web directly. PhpMyAdmin
is used to manage your databases and allows the execution of all
types of SQL queries with results being displayed in the web browser

PhpMyAdmin can also be used to make back-ups of your databases on
a regular basis.

IMAP & SMTP Email Access
Email accounts can be access using either the POP3 or IMAP
protocols. We allow the use of our SMTP servers for sending of emails.
Please note that our SMTP server cannot be used for bulk emails
(or SPAM).
